BAPTISTS

B1 – The BIBLE as the sole authority of faith and practice

You will not find visions, revelations, tongues, or extra Biblical “messages from God” at Bible Baptist. 1 Co 14:20-22, 13:8-11; 2 Tim 3:16-17

B2 – BORN AGAIN church membership (regenerated and immersed church membership)

We accept into membership only those who have professed both by word and by scriptural baptism that they belong to Christ. Matt 28:19-20; Acts 2:41

A – AUTONOMY of the local church (self-supporting, self-governing)

Our church is completely self-governed outside of a denomination. Acts 6:5, 13:1-4; 1 Co 5:1-5; 2 Thess 3:14-15

P – PRIESTHOOD of the Believer

Every believer has equal and instant access to God. This means that each believer is his own priest and has direct access to God’s truth and God’s will for his life. 1 Pe 2:5, 9; Ephesians 2:18; I Timothy 2:5

T – TWO Church Offices

Two church officers

  1. Pastor (elder, bishop, overseer – same office) – Acts 20:28, I Timothy 3:1-7, I Timothy 4:12-16
  1. Deacons – Philippians 1:1; I Timothy 3:8-13

I – IMMERSION of Believers Only

Symbolizes being buried and raised with Christ. Memorials of what Christ did on the cross – not a means of grace. Acts 8:38-39; Acts 2:41 The Bible order is believe then baptized: Acts 2:41 “Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.”

S – SOUL Liberty

Every man and woman must choose personally to come to Christ for salvation. Jn 3:16; Acts 2:41, 47, 2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

T – TWO Ordinances

We practice two simple ordinances at BBC – baptism and the Lord’s Table (communion). These ordinances have no part in salvation and only serve as pictures of what Christ did for us. Matt 28:19-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Cor 11:23-28

S1 – SEPARATION of Church and State

The state should have no power to intervene in the free expression of religious liberty. Matt 22:21

S2 – SEPARATION: Personally and Ecclesiastically

Personally we are to learn to disassociate from sin and sinful relationships and forming habits and relationships that help me develop holiness (progressive sanctification)-1 Co 5:1-5; 2 Co 6:11-7:1; Eph 5:11; Ro 12:1-2 1 Thess 4:1-8

Ecclesiastically we strive to maintain a commitment to the clear teaching of God’s Word without compromise, as such Bible Baptist Church does not support the National Council of Churches, the World Council of Churches, the National Association of Evangelicals, the Charismatic movement (includes tongues movements, etc.), Ecumenical evangelism, Liberalism, or Modernism. (II Thessalonians 3:6; Amos 3:3; Jude 1:3)

S3 – SECURITY of the Believer

Salvation is a gift from God that cannot be taken away. When a person is saved, he is always saved. Nothing can separate him from eternal life in Christ and he can live with full assurance of Heaven as his future home. Jn 10:28
